William Arthur Deighton a trustee and shareholder published in 1911 a book on the Manchester General Cemetery for private circulation amongst the Committee, share holders and those interested in the Institution.  The book is rare and we have no idea how many were published we are only aware of two.

It is a hardback book with only 48 pages and 6 pictures, one being a map of the cemetery.

William Arthur Deighton's final words in his book:

"And what shall be said of the rest of the inhabitants of this great city of the dead?  They were, for the most part, men and women of the people, toilers in this great hive of industry, old and young, known and unknown, high and low, rich and poor, one with another all equal now."
