Life Assurance

Whilst researching we have come across many 'Life Assurance' policies, some have very interesting wording and varying prices, we have shown the wording of this policy as it was a Manchester Company and could well have been used for someone buried in the Manchester General Cemetery.

Registered under the friendly societies act 1875

Association Life Assurance Table

Whereas ………………………........... (and who is hereafter called “The Assured”), having applied to the Rational Sick & Burial Association (hereafter called “The Association) for an Assurance upon ……...... life and having subscribed the usual declaration and undergone the necessary medical examination, and also agreed to the rates of premium mentioned in the Endorsement to be paid as therein provided, and to be subject to the conditions stated in the form of proposal and declaration “The Association” by this Policy contracts and agrees as follows:-

  1. That the first premium in respect of such Assurance shall become due on the first day of the month of issue and each succeeding premium shall be due and payable on the first day of the month quarter, half year or year of issue and in every case shall be payable in advance.

  2. That if the premiums be paid at the respective times when due as above stated, “The Association” will pay to the person entitled the sum mentioned in the said Endorsement upon presentation of this Policy together with the certificate of death required by law, at the registered office of “The Association.”

  3. That if the said premiums be not paid as above stated and have become due, then this Policy of assurance shall become void and of no effect and all premiums paid thereon shall become forfeited to the “The Association.”

 

It is also provided that in case of removal from the United Kingdom, or of engaging in any hazardous employment on the part of “The Assured” that notice shall be given to the “The Association” in order that the rates of premium may if necessary, be adjusted in accordance therewith.
